Inviting photographers, photo practitioners, curators,?organizations, institutions &?collectives to

a)???Submit?bodies of work, projects, photo essays and stories for print exhibitions that interpret the festival theme of?Affinity.

b)???Digital exhibitions, Slideshows, multimedia projects, films and photo-based installations to be shown during the festival at the evening screenings and as exhibitions.

Please Note: The theme, Affinity, applies only to the print exhibitions. Digital exhibitions, audio slideshows, multimedia, workshops, seminars , talks and other programs need not adhere to the theme.

The Delhi Photo Festival is an initiative of Nazar Foundation and India Habitat Centre to bring photography, the real democratic art form, into the public space, thereby creating awareness of photographic arts and initiating dialogue amongst its?many practitioners. The festival also seeks to create a platform for the coming together of the photographic community and the general public to engage with the art of photography.

Theme:?Affinity
The word?Affinity?has many associations such as?Sympathy, Rapport, Harmony, Understanding, Closeness, Accord, Connection, Friendship, Acceptance, Attachment, Inclusion, Attraction, Bond, Alliance, Association, Likeness, Resemblance,?Kinship, Relationship, and Family.
Please note:?Only the print exhibitions need to conform to the festival theme. Digital exhibitions, audio slideshows, multimedia & illustrated talks need not adhere to the theme.
Venue: India Habitat Centre, New Delhi

The central attraction of the festival will be a number of photography exhibitions spread across the open spaces of the India Habitat Centre and in all its major galleries showcasing a carefully curated mix of photography from India, Asia and some?significant work being done internationally. The emphasis will be on new work. Though the exhibitions will run through the two weeks, all major interactive events of the festival will be scheduled in an action-packed?Opening Week, from 15 to 22 October 2011, featuring the following:

• Evening screenings comprising of events, presentations, audio-visual screenings & live performances
• Lectures & Talks
• Seminars & Workshops
• ?Addas?: Scheduled informal gatherings in pre-designated locations, for participants to interact with important photo practitioners, gallerists, curators, artists, etc
• Portfolio Reviews
• Gallery Walks

The Delhi Photo Festival is a non-commercial venture. Entry will be free for everybody to ensure popular and wide-reaching participation.

Terry O’Neill Award now open for entries

Photographers have until 22 October to enter the 2011 edition of the Terry O’Neill/Tag Award, which comes with a cash prize of ?3000 for the overall winner,? and ?1000 and ?500 for the following runner-ups.
The contest is opened to photographers over the age of 18. Entrants must submit between three and six images as an exhibition series. “Images must fall into the criteria of reportage, fashion, documentary, landscape, wildlife, portraiture or fine art photography,” say the organisers.
The winners will also see their work exhibited at teh [sic] Hotshoe Gallery in London and features in a Sunday Times Magazine feature.
Last year, Spanish photographer Sebastian Liste won the prize, hot on the heels of his Ian Parry Scholarship win.

The Ian Parry Scholarship 2011 deadline is June 30th 2011. Applications are digital. FTP instructions and application forms are available from www.ianparry.org
The Ian Parry Scholarship is designed to award young documentary photographers with a bursary that will enable them to undertake a chosen project and raise their profile in the international photographic community. Ian Parry was a photojournalist who died whilst on assignment for the Sunday Times during the Romanian revolution in 1989. He was just 24 years old. The Scholarship was set up by Aidan Sullivan and Ian?s friends and family in order to build something positive from such a tragic death.The competition is open to full time photographic students and photographers of 24 years or under.
The prize is ?3,000 towards an assignment, a commission for Save The Children plus ?500 for runners up. The Sunday Times Magazine publishes a selection of images from the competition and World Press Photo automatically accept the winner onto their final list of nominees for the Joop Swart Masterclass. An exhibition of images curated by Rebecca McClelland will be on view at the Getty Images Gallery from the 17th August
Entrants must submit:

1. A digital portfolio of 12 images to our FTP following our guidelines.
2. An application form.
3. A synopsis of a project they would undertake if they won the award complete with budget and some research.

This year we are also launching the first in a series of seminars and workshops led by industry professionals connected to the scholarship. This will be a free event exclusive to all finalists.

Invitations for applications to ART MADRID 2012

ART MADRID 2012 is now accepting applications from aspiring participants. The fair will be held February 15^th through 19^th at the Crystal Pavilion of the Casa de Campo in Madrid.
The 7th Art Madrid proposes to focus on producing a higher quality fair, continuing with an external committee that will carry out the selection of the participating galleries .
In?2012 Art Madrid will launch?a new programme, Art Madrid Edition, in which a maximum of 15 contemporary art galleries, publishers and institutions will be selected to participate in the fair, each with a 25 m? stand offered at a special price. The participants in this new programme must submit editions of contemporary art in any of its forms (original graphic work, sculpture, artist books, objects, etc.), by artists of any nationality.
The Young Art programme, which was added to the fair last year, and was very popular among collectors and gallery owners-featuring new galleries that have been open for fewer than 5 years or that present artists under 40-will be overseen by a curator who will invite new Spanish and foreign galleries and select the different proposals.
A new specific programme for collectors will also be introduced to cater to private and professional collectors and companies in an effort to encourage sales, improve relations between collectors and dealers and artists and organize a variety of activities.
The closing date for submitting applications for participation in ART MADRID 2012 is October 10th 2011.

For the people who have asked for clarification please note;

• Entries are open to all photographers worldwide. You don’t need to be from or living in the Asian region.
• Images entered do not need to be from the Asian region
• The use of texture overlays in the preparation of images is allowed. These overlays do not need to be taken by the photograspher, they can be sourced elsewhere.
• Category judging will begin soon after entries close on the 10th of Descember. All category judging will be completed by 20th of December.
• Entrants who place in the final round will be notified before the end of the year. The Final judging round will be a live event as part of the Creative Asia Conference on 19th of January.

The final judging event will be broadcast live online with video and audio of the judging panel, judges scores, image previews and interactive audience chat. If you can’t be there you can still experience the insight and education that comes from watching a live judging event online.

Fujifilm Student Awards now calling for entries

The longest-running student photography awards are back with the Fujifilm Student Awards now calling for entries.

The theme for the 2011 contest, which is now in its 26th year, is ‘Senses’. The brief is to capture an image that encapsulates at least one of the five senses ? sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. All images must have been show on one of Fujifilm?s professional films.
The winner will receive ?200 worth of Fujifilm, a trophy and a portfolio printed by Genesis Imaging. They will also gain unprecedented access to the printer?s creative director, Mark Foxwell, for one year, and receive a PR package from the promoter awards, WSP Media.
Up to 30 merit winners will each receive 10 rolls of Fujicolour professional colour negative film, and the university or college with the most entries will also win ?200 worth of Fujifilm Professional film.
?The Fujifilm Student Awards are a major part of the curriculum for many colleges, and tutors right across Britain see the Awards as pivotal to their students’ education, says Gabriel Da Costa, product manager at Fujifilm Professional. ?Many of the winners from the previous 25 years have gone on to enjoy successful careers as professional photographers.?
