I would like to let you know about an exciting scholarship opportunity for your budding photography students.
WorldNomads.com in conjunction with National Geographic Channel are offering one talented individual the chance to be mentored by National Geographic photographer, Jason Edwards, one of the world?s leading wildlife and remote landscape photographers.
The scholarship recipient will go on assignment to photograph the rugged landscapes of Greenland – from exploring the Russell Glacier and the Eternity Fjord to searching for musk oxen (and shy reindeer!) to visiting a local settlement.
On location, they will have the opportunity to learn the ropes from a globally renowned Nat Geo photographer and find out why Greenland has been beckoning intrepid spirits for thousands of years.
The winner of the scholarship will be flown to Nuuk, Greenland from their country of residence courtesy of World Nomads and Air Greenland to embark on an 10-day custom trip with Visit Greenland and Destination Arctic Circle.
Applicants for the scholarship must submit a photo essay that tells a story about a place they have visited and tell us about their photos and themselves, and why they should be awarded the 2013 Travel Photography Scholarship to Greenland.

Time Magazine Person of the Year 2018. A photographer, writer, curator and activist, Shahidul Alam obtained a PhD in chemistry before switching to photography. His seminal work “The Struggle for Democracy” contributed to the removal of General Ershad. Former president of the Bangladesh Photographic Society, Alam set up the Drik agency, Chobi Mela festival and Pathshala, South Asian Media Institute, considered one of the finest schools of photography in the world. Shown in MOMA New York, Centre Georges Pompidou, Royal Albert Hall and Tate Modern, Alam has been guest curator of Whitechapel Gallery, Winterthur Gallery and Musee de Quai Branly. His awards include Mother Jones, Shilpakala Award and Lifetime Achievement Award at the Dali International Festival of Photography. Speaker at Harvard, Stanford, UCLA, Oxford and Cambridge universities, TEDx, POPTech and National Geographic, Alam chaired the international jury of the prestigious World Press Photo contest. Honorary Fellow of Royal Photographic Society, Alam is visiting professor of Sunderland University in UK and advisory board member of National Geographic Society.
