Limon Hossain, a Jhalakathi college student maimed by Rab last year, his mother and brother were injured in an attack allegedly by a source of Rapid Action Battalion in Rajapur upazila of the district on Monday.

Local criminal Ibrahim Hawlader intercepted Limon on Chhaturia-Idurbhari road when he was returning to his rented house at Kaukhali upazila of Pirojpur around 5:30pm after celebrating Eid with his family members, reports our Barisal correspondent, quoting Limon?s elder brother Sumon Hossain.

Ibrahim, who works as an informer of Rab, beat up Limon indiscriminately, Sumon said.
As Sumon and their mother Henoara Begum went to save him, Ibrahim also beat them up.
On information, Tofazzal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Rajapur Police Station, rushed to the spot and rescued the trio.
Limon?s mother was admitted to Rajapur Upazila Health Complex while Limon and Sumon were given first aid.
Rab shot Limon in the left leg at his village Chhaturia in Rajapur of Jhalakathi on March 23, 2011. Limon, who used to work at a brick kiln to pay for his education, had to have his leg amputated from the thigh on March 27 last year.
Henoara filed an attempt-to-murder case against six Rab men with Rajapur Police Station on April 10 last year.
Police have quietly submitted a report to a Jhalakathi court, saying they have found no evidence and witnesses in favour of the case.
